Vegetation is not just a mere filter through which you can sort plant species by attributes. Vegetation understands the needs of each species and your needs too!
Vegetation’s database does not just contain the usual information about each species, like what you can find online. It boasts a vast database with information that you would otherwise have to gather from many websites and books just to understand one species.
But vegetation also comprehends this information, enabling creative communication. Your design process will become an interaction between your ideas and the knowledge within vegetation. Vegetation helps you maintain your flow. With vegetation, you can create planting designs faster, expand your knowledge, and devise different designs more efficiently.
Vegetation can create lists for you, or you can chat with vegetation’s bot. For example, you can generate a list of plants with blue, violet, or pink flowers, growing between 50 and 100 cm, thriving in shade on nutrient-poor soil. Additionally, you can add your own custom criteria, such as: “All plants should be ecologically beneficial.” The list will output various information, including the botanical name, flower color, flowering period, height, and more.
If you do not need a list but rather have open questions or want to know more about a specific plant, you can interact with vegetation’s chatbot. You can ask questions like: “Give me 10 recommendations for a tree that does not grow taller than 8 meters, thrives in poor soil, and can tolerate pavement over the rooting area.”
We do not claim that vegetation will output a perfect list of plants that you can use as is. We understand vegetation as a tool to help you create your planting design. We do not want vegetation to take over the creative process but to assist you in creating your best work.
The use of plants is a complex topic due to many factors, such as suitability to environmental conditions, aesthetics, or the desire to achieve a specific concept. It is very hard to know all these things about every single plant species. Often, we do know these factors, but they may not be at the forefront of our minds. Vegetation eliminates these difficulties.
Vegetation knows more about each species than most landscape designers, architects, or even planting design experts!
With this vast information, vegetation helps you create the perfect planting design for any situation, requirement, or context.
Vegetation does not have lots of limitations; it’s actually pretty simple and versatile. Since vegetation is based on a dataset of 4000+ species, it is limited by those plants, which do not cover the entire planet but encompass all the temperate zones and even the subtropics.
Even though we have rigorously tested vegetation, it can produce errors. If a plant is not in our database, it does not always output an accurate response and may come up with its own ideas. This is mostly the case with vegetation’s chatbot, as you may ask questions that are beyond our dataset.
We do encourage you to verify the information, even if it’s true most of the time. Generally, if you have some knowledge about plants, you will easily notice if the response does not originate from our dataset.
Our dataset contains the most commonly used English name for each plant. However, in different regions, a plant can be referred to with another name. The English name to which you are accustomed may not be the one in the output of the generation. For real-world use, please rely on the botanical or Latin name, as this is universally used globally.
Lists
Instead of trying to obtain a complete list, try to use vegetation as a tool that provides suggestions. For instance, if you desire a planting with flower colors blue, violet, and white, you could ask vegetation for all of these together and generate a list with 30 species, 10 of each to choose from. Alternatively, you can generate a list for each flower color separately. Both approaches can yield different results.
If you are planning to create multiple flower beds with different styles and plant combinations, it’s best to do them separately. This also applies to groups of trees and shrubs.
Chatbot
If you have general questions about which plant you could use or if you have a question about a specific species, the chatbot is the better choice. The bot can quickly answer your questions and provide suggestions.
The dataset in vegetation was created specifically for this use case. It features over 4000+ species and varieties. The plants selected for this dataset are field-proven and available for purchase. This means that the information output can be applied in real-world projects.
Each plant profile contains 35+ attributes, covering all aspects of every species. Crafted through rigorous data analysis methods and meticulous verification processes, our dataset ensures utmost accuracy and reliability. Every piece of information is carefully integrated and curated to provide you with a top-tier resource for your botanical endeavors.
The dataset is one of the most extensive for plants used in planting design, offering in-depth insights into each species. Through our platform, you not only access this wealth of knowledge but also engage with it in creative ways, expanding your expertise and enhancing your workflow to new heights.
